After getting all the DLC to the game installed I dug through the cheat table and figured out what to update to get most of the codes back up and going. With all that said while I don't like the culling of combo decks that seems to take place any time a new one is discovered I really really really hope DWD finds a way to implement a way to make combo decks that feel both good to play and good to play against.I have updated the cheat table based off of the work of Shinkansen so thanks to him/her for the base work.

However in a digital space you need to still play out that loop so the game can registrar the win. I can just tell my opponent right then and there they are dead unless they have a way of interrupting my loop. Animation times and turn timers need to be taken into consideration while in a physical card game I can explain to my opponent the loop and skip to the end result without actually having to play out the cards.Ī simple example of what I'm talking about Card A deals 1 damage when a card is drawn Card B an enchantment makes it so every time card A deals damage I draw a card. While a game being digital offers some neat game design opportunity it also hurts the game in a sense. I also think part of the problem is the digital space. I get most players don't care and would rather just play aggro, midrange and control and to their credit I'm saying there is anything wrong with that but having almost no combo decks or mill decks or lock down prison style decks sucks if you are that kind of player. I understand why the devs remove things like Talir and Makto echo I can't help but to feel Eternal has so much wasted potential. I definitely think Talir still sees play after this, just that she's no longer going to be cheeseball city.Īnd in the meantime, I wish something this subtle would have been done about Vara 1, rather than completely decimate her.

Now instead of going full mongoloid on the combo, you do something like play a standard Xenan like Tobboo's Xenan Azindel midrange that was nothing but value-based time units and Azindels, with the Talir combo in the market, but now you can actually run interaction such as annihilate, banish, and so on. She can still generate absolutely obscene amounts of value by playing units conventionally, but now you no longer have the incentive to just dump your entire deck into play, but rather use her as a monster value engine, which she very much still can be. This is actually a lighter nerf on Talir than I would have hoped, which would have been "T units you draw from your deck get destiny". Holy crap, I was really afraid for something like a scream or cookbook nerf because "no tier 1 decks allowed, ever", but huge props to DWD for going with the "if it ain't broke" approach.

How will these changes shake up the meta? Join us this weekend for ECQ: Defiance to find out! This “desperate gambit” redraw is a measure of last resort that allows the player to shuffle their redrawn hand back into their deck and draw a final hand of six cards (still containing a one-third chance of two power, a one-third chance of three power, and a one-third chance of four power). Starting hand and redraw hand distributions are unchanged however, the redraw rule is being modified to include a second option for players that chose to redraw. The change will go into effect for next month’s Sealed league when it begins on December 1. As such, we are making an exception and offering full-value sellbacks on it, despite no change to the card itself.Īdditionally, given the success of the test of the redraw rule changes in the Feastcalling event earlier this month, the “desperate gambit” redraw will be introduced to Ranked, Casual, Draft, and Friend Challenge games. While this rules change has a minimal impact on most cards, it impacts Talir, Who Sees Beyond in a meaningful way. The Destiny mechanic can lead to dramatic swings, but when a large number of units with Destiny were played in succession, the pacing of the game was slowing down to an unacceptable degree. Now, when a player at the unit cap draws a unit with Destiny, they will discard it and draw another card, instead of playing it and being prompted to sacrifice a unit. The Destiny mechanic has been modified for improved play experience and rules consistency. In an update this week, the Redraw rules and Destiny rules will be changed:
